How to open a coffee shop in Lahore: a step-by-step guide
Location, licences, budget, equipment, team and launch: the full path to opening a coffee shop in Lahore, from a consultant who does it on the ground.
Read the guideFrom washing cups to launching cafés: a Lahore coffee consultant who learned the trade behind real bars in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

Ahmed Hussain started working in cafés at a very young age, with no shortcuts: washing cups, cleaning the bar, then learning every corner of a café one shift at a time. Every long day, every mistake and every setback became a lesson.
That hands-on path ran through cafés in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Over the years the passion turned into experience: pulling shots during a rush, training new baristas, building coffee programmes, planning bar workflows and setting up cafés from empty rooms.
Today Ahmed is a coffee consultant based in Lahore. He consults cafés, trains teams, designs and sets up coffee bars, and helps new café owners avoid the mistakes he once faced himself. He led the launch of Retrograde Coffee in Lahore: months of planning, tastings, trials and staff training before the doors opened.
He also works as a beverage expert at Monin Pakistan events and café opening days, creating signature drinks with flavour and showing other professionals how to use them, and he teaches coffee to everyone on Instagram through his free 30-day course, Learn with Ahmed Brews.
Ahmed's advice comes from real bars, so it is practical: what the barista will actually do at 8 pm on a Friday, what the machine needs when the power drops, what a drink really costs in rupees. He works beside the owner, on site in Lahore any week and across Pakistan by plan.
